Block Stitch Square – Free Crochet Pattern
Start with a magic circle or I prefer to just chain 5 and join into a circle.
Round 1: Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc), 2 dc, *ch 3, 3 dc* repeat between * 2 more times, ch 3, sl st to join in top of beginning chain.
Round 2: Join with a new color in any chain 2 space. Chain 4 (counts as sc and chain 3), 1 sc in same space, *ch 3, in next chain 2 space crochet [sc ch 3, sc]* repeat between * 2 more times, ch 3, sl st to join in first beginning chain.
Round 3: Join with a new color in any chain 3 corner space. Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc) then, [2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], in the next chain 3 space crochet 3 dc, *in next corner chain 3 space crochet [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], in next chain 3 space crochet 3 dc* repeat between * to end, join in top of beginning chain 3.
Round 4: Join with a new color in any chain 2 space. Chain 4 (counts as sc and chain 3), 1 sc in same space, *ch 3, sc in the space between each set of 3 dc sts* repeat between * to next corner, **in corner chain 2 space crochet [sc, ch 3, sc], [ch 3, sc in the space between each set of 3 dc sts] to next corner** repeat between ** to end, join, fasten off.
Round 5: Join with a new color in the corner chain 3 space. Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc) then, [2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], *in next chain 3 space crochet 3 dc* repeat between * to next corner, **in corner chain 3 space space crochet [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], then 3 dc in each chain 3 space to next corner** repeat between ** to end, join, fasten off.
Round 6: Repeat Round 4.
Round 7: Repeat Round 5.
