- Crochet Hook: Sizes U.S. G/6 (4 mm) & U.S. H/8 (5 mm) crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge.

MEASUREMENTS:
Hat: One size to fit average woman’s head.
Scarf: Approx 7″x30″ [18 x 76 cm].
GAUGE:
13 sc and 15 rows = 4″ [10 cm] with larger hook.
DIRECTIONS:
Hat
Ribbing: With smaller hook, ch 13.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of chain. Turn. 12 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row until work, when slightly stretched, measures 22″ [56 cm]. Do not fasten off.
Join last row and 1st row tog, working 1 row of sc through both thicknesses.
Change to larger hook and proceed in rnds as follows:
Note: Ch 3 at beg of rnd counts as dc.
Ch 4 at beg of rnd counts as dc and ch 1.
1st rnd: Ch 1. Working along straight edge of ribbing, work 80 sc evenly around. Join with sl st to firt sc.

2nd and alt rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each st around. Join with sl st to firt sc.

2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in firt sc. *Sc2tog. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 17 sts.
3rd row: Ch 2. Working in front loops only, 1 dc in each st to last st. 1 hdc in last st. Turn.**
4th row: Ch 2. 1 dcbp around each st to last st. 1 hdc in last st. Turn.
5th row: Ch 2. 1 dcfp around each st to last st. 1 hdc in last st. Turn.
